GUIDELINES FOR RENEWAL POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP APPLICATION

Fellowship renewals are not automatic; renewal applications are reviewed along with the pool of new applicants.

1. Complete the Renewal Application Face Sheet.

2. Submit a progress report on your project thus far and a narrative description of the work planned for a second year, not exceeding five pages including figures and references.

3. Your sponsor should report in layman’s terms on progress toward the mentoring and training activities planned for the first year. The sponsor should indicate:

    • the relevance/importance of the project’s potential second year to the foundation’s focus on the regulation of fertility,

    • comment on the first year’s work, including how much of the first-year project was accomplished, and what training took place in the first year,

    • barring unforeseen circumstances, how likely is it that the proposed work can be accomplished within the term of the fellowship?

    • the training/experiences during a second year that will assist the fellow to progress toward successful funding and independence,

    • and the fellow’s ability to accomplish the goals of the proposed project.

4. Additional letters of reference are not required for renewal applications.

5. Both the renewal applicant and sponsor should submit their updated NIH Biographical Sketches.
